Demiricous
TWO (Poverty)
3.5/5
Who It’s For: Those that like (to) thrash
Sounds Like: Slayer, Sepultura
It would appear that a resurgence of thrash metal seems to be what’s going on these days. Demiricous (pronounced DEM-EAR-IK-US, which apparently is a word made up by the band) is a prime example of members of this revival movement.
With riffs that go from 0-100 BPM’s (beats per minute) in a matter of seconds, speeding through songs is the name of Demiricous’ game on their newest album TWO (Poverty). Overall it really hasn’t changed from their first disc ONE (Hellbound). They occasionally slow things down, but it doesn’t last too long.
Basically, not much can be said about this band. If you like thrash metal, you’ll probably dig these guys. Really, they are a love/hate band. If you love Slayer, you may love Demiricous because they sound so much like Slayer, or, well, if you love Slayer, you may hate Demiricous because they sound so much like Slayer. The album is a quick affair, and while the band shows themselves to be some very competent players, the album seems to speed by you leaving one thought in your mind: “That wasn’t a bad Slayer record, but I liked their earlier stuff better.”
