Mustard Plug
In Black And White
4/5

Who It’s For:
Those who love their horns and circle pits
Sounds Like: High energy ska punk

If you don’t know who Mustard Plug right now, you probably don’t care, but perhaps you love ska and have just managed to miss them. If so this is for you.

These guys have been doing this for a long time. Their first album came out in 1992. In Black And White is their seventh album. After all that time you would figure they would have their style and sound down pat and that is completely true. They have that immediately recognizable ska punk sound that gets kids moving across the continent. With the raspy vocals, horns and high energy, as long as you can do it right it is a recipe for a great album. I doubt anyone is going to claim that this disc is mind-blowing and life altering, but I doubt that’s what they were going for. It’s fun. There are some serious lyrics (“Who Benefits”) mixed in with the fun (“Real Rat Bastard”), which makes In Black And White a blast to listen to.

Throw these tracks in your ska mix on your Ipod and you are sure to keep bouncing until the sun comes up.
