Who It’s For: Your friend who hates most indie bands because the singers suck. This will prove them wrong
Sounds Like: The CD you’ll pick when you need to calm down, but don’t want to get bored.

With the unexpected success of Neverending White Lights’ first release, in large part to Dallas Green sung single “The Grace,” the follow up was either going to be just as good, or not even close. Luckily it seems that Daniel Victor was aware of the possibilities and made his next project even better than the first. At first glance to who was on this one, I was slightly disappointed since I wasn’t a fan of most of the guests. At first listen I was not only pleasantly surprised at how Victor’s strength seems to be writing songs that showcases vocalists in an entirely different way than you’d expect, but that he made it work cohesively.

Tracks with the fabulously talented Jimmy Gnecco and the always strong Rob Dickinson and Hawksley Workman, provide some of the more interesting songs on the album. Though other tracks with Mat Joly and Lexi Valentine (“Black Is The Colour Of My True Loves Heart” is absolutely gorgeous) made me a fan of vocalists I previously couldn’t stand.

But it’s the instances where Victor is the singer on his own that makes the album as good as it is. The cover of Hole’s “Miss World” is better than anticipated, and first single “Always,” is already getting a large amount of airplay. There’s no doubt that he could release an entire album with no one on it but him, but it’s always nice to see what he can do with others. I can’t wait to see what Victor comes up with next.
