Silverstein
Arrivals & Departures
3.5/5

Who It’s For:
Screamo fans
Sounds Like: The best of a genre

Silverstein are generally a touchy area for reviewers. Most people who review music don’t like them, but they are hugely popular and to dismiss them and their music simply because it’s not a genre you like would be a mistake. Arrivals & Departures is a new step deeper in the genre that Silverstein are practically the kings of. They combine everything that makes screamo what it is and rule their territory without question. This album is obviously a new step for the band. They have taken a much cleaner approach to this record. The entire thing isn’t quite as edgy as their previous offerings and although the heavy songs were what made them who they previously were, this more listener friendly disc is stronger from the first note. It still has heavy songs, but the melodic portions stand out. Vocalist Shane Told’s voice sounds perfect for each track whether singing or screaming. You can hear that these lads have grown up since their last album. It will be worthwhile to see where their career leads them.
