Sea Wolf
Leaves in the River
3/5
Who It’s For: Serene, rainy day people
Sounds Like: Someone with bright eyes riding in a death cab for cutie
Alex Church is sad about something. I can’t figure out why, or what he’s upset about, but his songs sure do sound somber. Although he seems to have missed the Bright Eyes emo bus by about three years, he carries on in the same fashion almost missing the comparison with a few upbeat songs that are few and far between. Oddly enough, the sound feels a little dated and overly familiar for 2007.
There are some gems though, such as “You’re a Wolf”, which is one of my favourite singles of the year, but mostly the songs are just so sad. If you’re into that kind of music, then go for it, but if not, prepare to yawn.
