Ok Go!

Mod Club
Six treadmills, four guys, and one damn catchy pop song enticed this sold-out crowd to trudge the rainy street of Toronto to the Mod Club Theatre on this drudgy Monday night. However, eighty minutes of a perfectly crafted rock show later, the crowd went from a beer-sipping lull to an all-out arm-waving dance-a-thon.
For the first time I’ve ever seen in my concert-attending history, the band started with the last song from their latest album “The House Wins.” Even the harmonies from the album which I thought would be impossible to duplicate live were done with ease.
Even without an overwhelming amount of onstage movement, the sheer onstage presence of Damian Kulash kept your eyes glued and entertained. He is frankly too good in both musicianship and looks not to be headlining larger venues and pinned up on 16-year-olds walls across North America.
They even brought out a platform mid-venue to do two stripped-down acoustic versions of “A Million Ways” and “What To Do” before finishing up their set with the grand finale of “Get Over It.” Coming out for the encore the band played “Return,” the prestige of the first album, of which Damian introduced it by telling us it was about “A friend who died during College.” They then turned up the pyro-factor bringing out confetti and about 20 inflatable sky-dancers to bounce along to the ever-infectious “Do What You Want.”
Though, just when the guitars were brought backstage and we thought it was all over, the band stayed to perform the dance from their “A Million Ways” video to absolute perfection and absolute praise from the absolutely packed house.
Having moved from opening up for the Kaiser Chiefs at El Mocambo to selling out the Mod Club in just over a year, things have been moving fast for these four musicians from the Windy city. And if they keep putting out videos just as addictive as their harmonious melodies the only thing moving faster will be their records off shelves. And if you are a music fan you will be moving just as fast to their next performance. Ok? Go.
